Cannabis Dry Weight Conversion Calculator

Dry Weight Conversion

Grams: 0 Ounces: 0 Pounds: 0 Kilograms: 0 Bowls: 0 Joints: 0 Blunts: 0

Our Dry Weight Conversion Calculator is a simple tool that instantly converts any given weight into multiple units—grams, ounces, pounds, kilograms, bowls, joints, and blunts. It even shows a real-world object with a similar weight so you can visualize how much you’re dealing with. This makes it perfect for quick estimations, everyday usage, and getting a better sense of cannabis quantities.

Why should I use this calculator?

This calculator saves you from having to do multiple conversions for dry weights—especially if you need a quick reference for cannabis measurements. Simply enter the weight you have and choose a unit (grams, ounces, pounds, etc.). The calculator then displays multiple equivalents at once, including approximate cannabis-specific units like bowls, joints, and blunts.

How does this calculator work?

Just enter a number and select a unit of measure (grams, ounces, etc.). The calculator will instantly show the equivalent weights in grams, ounces, pounds, kilograms, bowls, joints, and blunts. It even includes a real-world object with a similar weight so you can visualize the amount.

What does a gram, ounce, or pound feel like in real life?

It can be tough to imagine exact weights just by numbers. Our calculator includes a “real-world equivalent” so you can compare your entered amount to a common object—like a paperclip or a slice of bread. This can be especially helpful if you don’t have a scale handy or need a point of reference.

How many grams are in an ounce?

One ounce is roughly 28.35 grams. Most people round it to 28 grams for easier math, which is common in many dispensaries.

How much cannabis is in a bowl? How many bowls can I get from an ounce?

Glass bowls vary a lot in size, but we use 0.3 grams as our standard for a single bowl. An ounce has around 28 grams, so you can pack about 93 bowls from an ounce if each bowl is 0.3 grams. (If you pack larger bowls, you’ll get fewer total bowls.)

How much marijuana is in a joint? How many joints can I roll from an ounce?

Dispensary pre-rolls often contain 0.5 to 1.0 grams per joint. We set 0.5 grams as the standard in our calculator, so you can roll about 56 joints (28 grams / 0.5 grams each) from one ounce.

How much weed is in a blunt? How many blunts can I make from an ounce?

A blunt typically contains anywhere from 1 to 2 grams of cannabis. Our calculator defaults to 1.65 grams per blunt, meaning around 17 blunts (28 grams / 1.65 grams) from an ounce.

Is a gram of weed enough to get you high?

For most people, 1 gram of marijuana is more than enough to feel the effects, unless you have an extremely high tolerance or are consuming it in a way that’s less efficient (e.g., edibles with lower absorption rates). Always start small and see how you feel.

How accurate is the calculator for real-world weights?

The standard conversion factors (e.g., grams to ounces) are highly accurate. However, the “real-world object” comparisons are approximations to give you a general idea of the weight. Different items and brand variations will weigh slightly more or less in real life.

Does moisture content affect the weight of cannabis?

Yes. Marijuana that hasn’t been cured or stored properly may retain more water, making it heavier for the same amount of dry plant matter. Our calculator assumes you’re measuring dry weight, which is the typical standard in dispensaries.

Can I use this calculator for large amounts or different substances?

Yes. The math works for any dry substance because we’re using standard units like grams, ounces, pounds, and kilograms. However, the cannabis-specific units (bowls, joints, blunts) are based on general assumptions and may not be accurate for other substances.

What if I don’t have a scale?

That’s where real-world comparisons can help. Our calculator gives you an approximate weight comparison so you can better estimate how much you’re handling. For anything requiring precise measurement (medical use, baking, etc.), we still recommend using a reliable scale.
