Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system in the human body that regulates sleep, mood, appetite, memory, pain, immune function, and reproduction. It consists of endocannabinoids (like anandamide and 2-AG), cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), and enzymes. Cannabis cannabinoids like THC and CBD interact with this system, which is why cannabis affects so many bodily functions.
