Cannabis topicals are creams, lotions, balms, salves, and transdermal patches infused with cannabinoids that are applied directly to the skin. Most topicals do not cross the blood-brain barrier, meaning they provide localized relief without psychoactive effects. They are commonly used for muscle pain, joint inflammation, skin conditions, and arthritis. Transdermal patches are an exception and can deliver cannabinoids systemically.
