Truffle Weed: Strain Review

Also known as Truffle Butter, this strain gets its name from one of the most expensive ingredients in the world: Truffles.

Truffles can come in various forms, although chocolate truffles are also present in this strain.

Trust that this strain will deliver when it comes to potency and delicious flavor. There is a reason why this strain is many people’s favorite.

Genetics and Lineage

Truffle is an Indica-dominant hybrid that combines Gelato and Chocolate Kush. It’s a 70%/30 Indica mix. You will feel a bit sleepy from the high, so this strain is great to smoke before bed.

Additionally, this strain can make it hard to concentrate, so avoid trying this first thing in the morning.

Chocolate Kush is pretty high in CBD, making it enjoyable for all. Furthermore, the strain will allow you to focus and concentrate while uplifting your spirits. The high CBD levels make this strain an excellent medicinal strain that you will not regret trying.

On the other hand, Gelato is known and bred for its flavor. It only has around 20% THC but makes for a great sweet treat for any stoner. It truly delivers on all fronts.

Gelato offers a relaxing high without being too sedative, making it a favorite strain for many people.

Truffle Weed: Yields You Can Expect

The Truffle variety can be grown outdoors or indoors. You can expect to harvest 20 ounces or 1.25 pounds per plant for outdoor growing. Additionally, you can expect around 2 ounces per square foot as far as indoor.

You can expect a healthy yield from this plant, and it’s all thanks to the strain. Additionally, your growing skills will play a significant role in this.

For example, overwatering your plants will stunt their growth and create fewer buds. In addition, too many nutrients will burn the plants and produce poor-tasting buds.

Flowering Phase

Truffle’s flowering time is between 8 and 9 weeks. This strain is beautiful with dark green leaves and almost reddish hues.

The nugs are fluffy with amber trichomes and bright hairs. A true beauty…

This is not a beginner strain and will present some challenges even for seasoned growers. Pruning and training the plants requires an experienced eye and can be difficult for beginners.

Some strains similar to growing Truffle are Monster Cookies and Aloha Grape Stomper.

THC Percentage

For the most part, the THC percentage of the Truffle strain is 16 to 21 percent. It may not be the most potent strain; however, it will get the job done.

Additionally, beginners should smoke cautiously because getting too high is very uncomfortable and can lead to paranoia.

Truffle Weed: Finding Seeds

It is hard to find truffle seeds online, so your best bet is to find clippings or clones at a nursery.

In truth, this is the better option because you will be able to see the parent plants. Additionally, shipping seeds is federally illegal and can get you into trouble.

Some seed banks will send seeds regardless of legality. However, err on the side of caution and check your local laws before you grow any cannabis.

Cost of Flower

The prices of flower differ greatly depending on the grower, rarity, and potency of the strain. Additionally, there may be high taxes depending on what state you are in.

You may be able to find this strain for $220 per ounce, which is pretty reasonable. The cost of a 1/8th may be as high as $55. It is always better to get larger quantities as the prices usually go down.

Truffle Weed: Smell and Taste

Both the smell and taste are coffee/caramel. This strain contains Carene, Caryophyllene, and Camphene for the terpene profile.

Carene is a natural stress-relieving agent that can also help with anxiety and insomnia. This terpene has a great taste and smell comparable to lemons. Blue Dream and Ice cream Cake are two examples of strains that contain Carene in moderate amounts.

Caryophyllene smells like earth but has the flavor of pepper. The terpene may be able to relieve pain almost instantly. White Runtz and Dragon Fruit are two strains where you can find this type of terpene.

Caryophyllene is also unique because it is the only terpene that functions as a cannabinoid within our endocannabinoid system. Read about it here: Cannabis and Terpenes: Caryophyllene

Camphene has many different uses, but it is known to help specifically with pain and inflammation. Strawberry Diesel and Alien Rock Candy have high levels of this particular terpene.

Truffle Weed: Medicinal Value

Times are changing. Several people who don’t believe in the healing powers of cannabis are now converting and trying it for different ailments. This is an excellent strain for patients seeking relief.

Truffle Weed is great for:

Although this strain has a diverse cannabinoid profile, the CBD content is very low. You can determine which cannabinoids provide relief by looking at the laboratory results when you buy flower.

Final Thoughts

Although the Truffle strain is a great choice, it might be difficult to find seeds. Shortly, some seed banks might carry it due to the popularity of the parent strains.

If you have not grown cannabis in the past, do not try your luck with this strain. It could be disastrous as this strain needs special care and attention only a seasoned grower can provide.

Growing weed takes patience, time, and experience. Do some research into the laws in your state about possession and cultivation.

In today’s world, strains are incredible and more potent than in the past. Do you know of any strains that stand the test of time? Northern Lights #5 and White Widow are great examples.
