6 Things You Didn’t Know About Kief

6 Things You Didn't Know About Kief

Did you know Kief was the first THC concentrate?

The Arabic word kief, which means pleasure or well being, is actually the source of the term kief.

Today, kief is the powdery cannabis resin extracted from the trichomes. Trichomes refer to the crystal-like hairs around the buds. They contain most of cannabis’ medicinal compounds.

These trichomes are removed and kief is made.

As it turns, kief can be used in many more ways than simply being smoked. Here are 6 interesting facts about this ancient concentrate.

#1 DIY Kief Butter and how to make it

You are looking for stronger infusions for your edibles.

Consider using kief. Kief can also be used to make infusions, much like hash oil and flowers. Because it doesn’t take as much kief to get the same amount of potency, the flavor won’t be affected.

Before making kief-butter, you must first ensure that you are working with decarboxylated kief. This means that the THC has been activated by heating the kief.

Once decarboxylated the kief will be ready for cooking.

Simply heat the butter in an oven-proof saucepan. Continue to slowly add the kief. Keep stirring every 10-15 minutes until it dissolves. You can keep the kief in a container in the freezer up to 6 months.

#2 Kief burns quick

It burns very fast when heated. You can avoid wasting kief by placing it over the bowl’s lining. This will allow the kief to burn longer between hits.

You can use kief by spraying it on flowers.

You can use any bowl, joint or blunt to do this. Remember that you only need a small amount of kief to make this work. Kief can be more potent then flowers.

Kief is the dried, shredded resin found in marijuana plants. It has a pungent odor and is often triple or quadruple the strength of flower. It burns very quickly, and the resulting smoke will be very strong. If you’re just looking for a relaxing, mind-altering high, kief is a great choice. Just remember to use caution when smoking kief, as it can quickly cause severe respiratory irritation.

You can eat kief or consume it as an edible. While most flowers are only 12 to 25 percent THC, kief can test as high as 80 percent THC. It is also incredibly high in terpenes and cannabinoids, making it a very potent option for those who need instant relief. It is also fast-acting, making it ideal for medicating on the go.

#3 There are many ways to collect Kief

A 3-piece grinder can be the most convenient and well-known method to collect kief. Many cannabis fans know that kief is an afterproduct of grinding buds. There are many methods of kief collecting.

The Pollen sifter box is a tool that can be used to collect large quantities of kief. These boxes have trays and screens to collect kief at their bottom tray. Sifters make the extraction process faster by breaking down the buds and distributing the trichomes.

No matter the method of extraction, keep your kief dry and in a cool place. If you want the best quality, and especially if it is a large amount, make sure to stir it every few day.

#4 Kief can be added to coffee

The use of kief does not have to be limited to smoking.

You can add kief to your cup of Joe for coffee lovers . The idea sounds a little crazy to first-timers. But, the heat from the coffee actually activates your kief’s cannabinoids.

Because it works its way through the body’s digestive track, the effects last for a longer time. It’s similar to eating an infused edible.

If you aren’t a fan of coffee, kief could be added to your tea. You only need a tiny amount of kief (1mg for every 6oz) to make a potent beverage.

#5 There is a variety of colors for kief

Did you know there were different types of kief?

Actually, purer kief tends to be lighter in color. The presence of a lot more plant matter in the mix is indicated by kief with a dark green color. This is due to the fact that the kief has not been cleaned very well.

The kief will become an off-white color when it is properly cleaned. When kief is properly extracted, it separates the trichomes from the plant matter. The plant’s purest and most potent parts are left behind.

#6 Kief contains high amounts of THC

Kief can provide a strong high. The majority of flowers contain between 12-25% but kief is usually around 50%. Some forms of kief may even have 80% THC.

But what makes the kief so stronger?

The trichomes from the plant make the Kief. Trichomes are the most concentrated cannabinoids. A more potent version of cannabis is obtained by isolating trichomes.

Kief is an excellent choice if you are looking for a quick way to get high-quality cannabinoids and a strong dose. Because kief contains so much cannabinoids, and terpenes, it delivers a concentrated dose.

This is great news especially for patients that need immediate relief.

Have you ever tried kief, if so, can you tell us a little about your experience with it?
